Challenged by Espaço do Tempo and Oficinas do Convento, the Department of Architecture of University of Évora, proposed to undertake a research project in the fields of architectural interpretation, urban regeneration and architectural design in the village of Casa Branca, as part of the Integrated Master’s in Architecture for the 2021/2022 academic year.
On September 23rd, a series of study visits began with students and lecturers, including several days of on-site work. To conclude the project, a final exhibition showcasing the work produced was held in one of the buildings within the complex of
historic infrastructure at Casa Branca railway station and was open to the local community.

04.DEC.2021 ︎︎︎ “DE CÁ PARA LÁ” ARTISTS’ MEETING
"“De Cá para Lá”, an artistic collaboration and shared curatorial project between the cultural association Pó de Vir a Ser and Oficinas do Convento. The initiative focused on the creation and circulation of sculptural objects in stone and ceramics, bringing together the creative spaces of the Alentejo. Taking a surrealist-inspired working method as their starting point, Pó de Vir a Ser and Oficinas do Convento invited six artists – Eduardo Freitas, Isaque Pinheiro, João Rolaça, Liliana Velho, Maja Escher and Rui Horta Pereira – to create various sculptural objects in stone and ceramics. Challenged to create mixed-media sculptures, the stone sculptors and ceramic artists each produced one half of a sculpture.
Subsequently, the artists were asked to share with one another only the profile drawings of each of these sculptural objects. The pieces were brought together on 4 December at Casa Branca, when the artists discovered who they had been working with ‘on the other side’.
