The opening of the Terras de Ferro Centre in September 2024 marked an important milestone in the process of regenerating the former railway workers’ neighbourhood of Casa Branca, now partially under the management of Estação Cooperativa.

The Terras de Ferro Centre allows us to give space and continuity to the work of documentation and valorisation of this territory, initiated with the participatory documentary exhibition "Não há casos em branco" (There are no blank spaces, 2019) and continued through the interactive exhibition route “Criar memórias em Terras de Ferro” (Creating Memories in Iron Lands, 2022), rojects developed in partnership with Oficinas do Convento, Cooperativa Integral Minga and MARCA ADL, founding organisations of Estação Cooperativa.

Within this new space, visitors can experience the circuit “Nas linhas da sombra - memórias de ferro” (Along the Lines of Shadow – Memories of Iron) , ua permanent exhibition designed to be evolving, dynamic and interactive. Conceived as a living structure, the exhibition not only brings together content from previous projects but also adapts over time, incorporating new pieces, testimonies and artefacts. It functions as a living archive and a resource for research and consultation of the displayed collection, while also acting as a creative stimulus for the development of new projects.

At the same time, the Terras de Ferro Centre is an active and dynamic space, hosting regular artistic residencies as well as training, research and documentation activities. These initiatives contribute to the recognition, visibility and creative re-signification of the place, its traditions, memories and knowledge, while fostering intergenerational and multicultural connections with the local community.
